The Nessmuk Woodcraft and Carving Camp

Over two days the course will be split into two parts. In the first part we will cover a range of different camp crafts as they were used in the old days. These will include Using the land to harvest natural cordage and craft materials Building camp structures traditionally used such as campfire pot hangers, bed frames and even backpack frames Traditionally crafted containers to boil water and cook in In the second part of the course you will learn how to hand carve a traditional cooking spoon made from the materials of the forest around you. This will include An introduction to safety when using axes, carving knifes and saws Understanding how the shape of the wood can be used to make cooking utensils Imagining and carving a cooking spoon from woodblock to a finished piece
